Home, Home in the Woods!:
Ernie Miller Park
Just in case you didn’t know, “Home on the Range” is the state song for the State of Kansas. I am a Kansas boy. The weekend of July 7, 2018, my family made a much overdo trip to my home state to see my folks (and other relatives). It was great to see them all!
In order to keep the streak of weekend Trail Tracings alive, we needed to find a place to visit for a hike. Well – we found a lovely place; the Ernie Miller Park and Nature Center. The park is a little more than 100 acres with about three miles of trails and here’s a link to the trail map. We started at the nature center, took the Bittersweet Trail (which is a paved loop), exited that trail to the South Trail, turned right to enter the Lower Ridge Trail and also made one of the climbs up to the Upper Ridge Trail. We connected to the Amphitheater Trail which returned us to the nature center.
FYI – No bikes or pets are allowed on the trails.
Here are a few pictures.
And the video of our Trail Tracing adventure.
Did you like the spider and huge spider web at the end of the video? We did not crash through the web.
If you ever find yourself in Olathe, Kansas, we definitely recommend a visit to the Ernie Miller Park.
find a trail ~ find your path
P.S. – Starting on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, I made the switch to posting one video on Wednesday of each week, and one blog post on Friday of each week. Why? To bring things closer to “real time”; closer to the actual time when the Trail Tracings occur. I’ll be making other blog posts, as I can, for our Trail Tracings that occurred between mid-February and mid-June in order to be caught up by our one year Trail Tracing anniversary in August 2018.
